What's the difference between a Sales Order and a Master Order?
eGrow Connect has two types of orders that serve similar purposes, but have important differences. One important difference is in how these orders allow you to allocate items.
Sales Order
This is used for the more traditional one-time orders. There is an option to split orders off of a sales order that works differently than a master order.
How Allocation Works: Allocation for sales orders is made to specific crops and can be done automatically or manually.
Master Order
This order type is used when a customer will reserve large amounts of inventory that will be shipped in multiple sales orders.
How Allocation Works: Allocation for master orders does not go to specific crops, but instead allocates to ready dates or to the “System”, which is the total qty for all crops.
Note: Sales orders can be split off into multiple orders also, but the difference is that if there are remaining items on the original sales order which get cancelled by the customer, there is no simple way to delete or void the last order and any remaining committed inventory must be manually returned.
