Why do I have a negative available quantity?
Negative available quantities are the result of inventory adjustments done to crops with items already committed on an order.
Example Scenario: A grower has confirmed 500 plants to a customer, then 100 of the plants are damaged and therefore dumped using a Dump transaction. This leaves 400 on hand, 500 committed, and -100 available.
A few options to fix a negative available quantity:
- Some growers will prorate and adjust all order quantities down to overcome the discrepancy
- Some growers will remove that item from other orders based on customer loyalty and make substitutions where possible
- Some growers will purchase in the missing items to fulfill are current orders
Tip: You can view a report of all sales and master order items affected by inventory changes by going to Reports, then clicking in Sales, then selecting the “Items on Master Order Affected by Inventory Changes” or “Items on Sales Order Affected by Inventory Changes” reports.
