Sell items that are on a purchase order before they are received
This is part of the Purchasing Add-on Module
There may be times when you want to include items on purchase orders in your inventory so you can book them on orders or have them visible to sales teams. There are two methods for selling items that are on a purchase order before they have been received: Add to Projections and In-Transit.
Add to Projections
When you click Add to Projections on your purchase order, the items on the purchase order will all be added to projected crops with the same ready date, the bed field can be used to differentiate specific projected crops. This method is best when it is not important which specific purchase order items will be added to the sales order.
- How to add to a sales order: When allocating on your sales order, you will select the crop with location “Projection”
- How to set defaults: In the purchase order, click on the Projection Defaults tab near the top and enter the details for items that will be added to projections.
In Transit
When you click In Transit on your purchase order, the items on the purchase order will appear as “In Transit” and will remain attached to the PO number. This method is best when you want to add items from a specific purchase order to your sales order.
- How to add to a sales order: When allocating on your sales order, you will select the crop with shows location “In Transit” and bed as the PO number. Please note, the order status must be “Confirmed” before you can mark items as In Transit.
- How to set defaults: In the purchase order, click on the Receiving Defaults tab near the top and complete all the fields with an * to provide information for the items being added to In Transit.
